
City of Marshall
The City of Marshall was incorporated in 1872 and its charter was adopted on August 22, 1969. Marshall's government structure is Home Rule Charter, operated by a Mayor/City Council with an appointed city administrator. Six council members and a voting mayor oversee the city, with the assistance of fifteen active citizen boards and commissions. The City employs 94 people, and also oversees the Marshall Municipal Utilities, Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, the Marshall/Lyon County Library and the Marshall Public Housing Commission.
With a total city budget of $24,331,381 for the year 2006, the City operates sixteen departments. Marshall's City Hall is located in the downtown business district at 344 West Main. It is open from 8 AM until 5 PM. You may reach the city via the city administrators office at 537-6760.
