Auto Registration, Driver's Licenses

Auto Registration - New residents to Marshall must register all motor vehicles immediately.  Vehicle registration information may be obtained at 302 West Redwood Street in downtown Marshall or by calling 532-4643.

Driver's Licenses - New residents must obtain a Minnesota driver's license within 30 days after moving to Marshall or Lyon County.  To get a new license, you must pass both the written and driving test, which are given on Tuesdays at the Minnesota Driver's License Testing Site at 601 N. US Hwy. 59.  Road tests are by appointment only;  call the Testing Site on Tuesdays only at 537-7024.

To obtain a Minnesota license with an existing out-of-state license, you will need to pass only the written portion of the test.  Copies of Minnesota's driving regulations can be obtained from the Hwy. 59 Testing Site.  The written test is given from 8 AM to 11:15, and from 12:30 PM to 3:45 PM.

To renew an existing license, or record a change of address, you must visit the Auditor's Office at the Lyon County Government Center, 537-6727.
